For two years, CHACHU helped families farm with seeds, land, and paid labor. Every harvest stayed 100% with the farmers.
What We Feed was
We Feed was a CHACHU farming and food-security project that ran for two years. It grew out of the same drive that founded CHACHU: to take a proactive hand in the social and economic challenges facing Banyamulenge communities.
Instead of short-term handouts alone, We Feed invested in people’s ability to grow food for themselves and to keep what they produced.

How it worked
CHACHU structured We Feed so families could plant, work, and own the result.
Seeds
We provided families with seeds to plant, the start of each season's work.
Land
We rented land so families had space to farm, even when they did not own fields of their own.
Paid labor
We paid the families to farm the seeds, recognizing their work as real labor, not unpaid obligation.
Their harvest
When the crops came in, 100% of the harvest remained the property of the farmers.
Why the project paused
We Feed was discontinued due to various operational reasons. We keep this record so the work, and the families who farmed, remain part of CHACHU’s story, even while the project is paused.
